SNIA Cloud Storage Initiative

Cleversafe is participating along with other storage industry leaders in the SNIA Cloud Storage Technical Work Group that is building a cloud storage standard: the Cloud Data Management Interface (CDMI). As the standard progresses from a work-in-progress to an accepted standard, Cleversafe will conform its interfaces to meet the CDMI standard to ensure interoperability in the Cloud.

This specification is being proposed to act as a standard interface for applications that create, retrieve, update, and delete elements from the Cloud. It will also allow applications to manage data and containers, set metadata, manage accounts, security access, and monitoring and billing information. The CDMI specification uses RESTful principles in the interface design where possible.

SNIA has a strong track record in gaining industry consensus around creating standard Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for storage and storage management, and submitting these standards into ANSI and ISO for accreditation.
