Infrastructure question

Posted by Ryan Michael at August 27. 2008

Since caching takes place on accessors, it would seem logical (in small, purely local networks) to couple initiators and accessors on each machine, reducing network traffic by allowing data to be cached where it is used.

Are there reasons this isn't a suggested method of operation, aside from the file transfer issue.

As a side note, what causes the file transfer problem, and are there plans to fix it?

Thanks

-Ryan

Not an official answer here but I think having the accessors separated allows for many initiators to connect to it more freely. But you are right. It works to combine them in your situation.
