Open Source License

Our open source license is the GNU General Public License 2.0 (GPL). It is structured as a dual license.

The Open Source License allows you to obtain, use, modify, and distribute the Cleversafe software freely. The Open Source License provides software “as is” and does not include any warranty, support, nor indemnification.

Third Party Licenses

Cleversafe Dispersed Storage™ technology contains software subject to individual, third-party licenses. Cleversafe very much appreciates the contributions of the open source projects that were used in the development of dsNet applications.

	Apache Ant	Apache Ant is a Java-based build tool, licensed under Apache License 2.0.
	Apache Commons	The following are licensed under Apache License 2.0: BeanUtils: Easy-to-use wrappers around the Java reflection and introspection APIs. Codec: General encoding/decoding algorithms (for example phonetic, base64, URL). Collections: Extends or augments the Java Collections Framework. Digester: XML-to-Java-object mapping utility. Lang: Provides extra functionality for classes in java.lang. Logging: Wrapper around a variety of logging API implementations. Math: Lightweight, self-contained mathematics and statistics components. Net: Collection of network utilities and protocol implementations.
	Apache Derby	Apache Derby is an open source relational database implemented entirely in Java under Apache License 2.0.
	Apache log4j	Apache log4j is a logging framework for Java under Apache License 2.0.
	Apache MINA	Apache MINA is a network application framework which helps users develop high performance and high scalability network applications easily under Apache License 2.0.
	Apache Velocity	Velocity permits you to use a simple yet powerful template language to reference objects defined in Java code under Apache License 2.0.
	Apache XBean	Apache XBean creates a plugin based server, which is able to discover, download and install server plugins from an Internet based repository under Apache License 2.0.
	ASM	ASM is an all purpose Java bytecode manipulation and analysis framework. License here.
	Bouncy Castle	Bouncy Castle provides a series of Java cryptography APIs and ASN.1 encoding under Bouncy Castle
	c3p0	c3p0 from Machinery for Change, Inc. provides JDBC3 connection and statement pooling under GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) Version 2.1
	cjlib	cglib is a powerful, high performance and quality Code Generation Library, It is used to extend JAVA classes and implements interfaces at runtime under Apache License 1.1
	dom4j	dom4j is an easy to use library for working with XML, XPath and XSLT on the Java platform using the Java Collections Framework and with full support for DOM, SAX and JAXP. License here.
	Hibernate	Hibernate is a powerful, high performance object/relational persistence and query service. Hibernate lets you develop persistent classes following an object-oriented idiom under GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) Version 2.1
	HSQLDB	HSQLDB is an SQL relational database engine written in Java. It is known for its small size, ability to execute completely in memory, its flexibility and speed. License here.
	Jetty	Jetty is a standards-based, full-featured web server implemented entirely in Java under Apache License 2.0.
	JPam	JPam is a Java-PAM bridge. PAM, or Pluggable Authentication Modules, is a standard security architecture used on Linux, Mac OS X, Solaris, HP-UX and other Unix systems. JPam is the missing link between the two under Apache License 2.0.
	JSAP	JSAP - the Java Simple Argument Parser - syntactically validates your program's command line arguments, and converts those arguments into objects you specify. License here.
	jSCSI	jSCSI is the first Java iSCSI initiator. Since it is written in Java, jSCSI is platform independent and easy to extend under Apache License 2.0.
	JSR	JSR-000173 is a streaming API for XML. License here.

	Junit	Junit is an easy to use testing tool for Java code under Common Public License v1.0
	Java Service Wrapper	The Java Service Wrapper evolved out of a desire to solve a number of problems common to many Java applications, including running as a Windows wervice or Unix daemon, scripting, on demand restarts, flexible configuration, easier application installations and logging support under GNU General Public License 2.0 (GPL).

	SLF4J	The Simple Logging Facade for Java is intended to serve as a simple facade for various logging APIs allowing to the end-user to plug in the desired implementation at deployment time under MIT
	UniMod	UniMod is focused on designing and implementing applications behavior. One already implemented approach adapts SWITCH-technology, which suggests to model application behavior with a help of Structural Finite State Machine (FSM). License here.
